Group Events & Private Parties in Ann Arbor
Throw Art Studio hosts private pottery events at our studio on Jackson Plaza.
Wheel throwing, pottery painting, or both, for birthdays, team building, showers, and celebrations of most kinds.
No experience needed! We teach the skills, supply everything, and fire your group's work afterward.
Party & Event Options
Wheel Throwing Party
A hands-on creative challenge on the pottery wheel, led by an instructor who will teach you the basics. Two hours of centering, shaping, and learning a new skill together.
Minimum group size of 6. $72 per person.
Pickup time is an estimated 4 weeks.
Pottery Painting Party
A relaxed, self-paced session where your group picks ceramic items off our shelves to decorate with glaze. Three hours to chat & do something creative together.
Minimum group size of 7. Maximum 14 painters (temporarily).
$100 table reservation fee, plus the cost of your items ($15-$60 per item).
Pickup time is an estimated 2 weeks.
Combination Party
The best of both! Your group will split between the pottery wheels and the painting tables. Ideal for groups with a mix of people wanting to paint or throw.
Minimum of 6 throwers + any number of painters. Same pricing as the individual events.
Pickup time is an estimated 4 weeks.
What It Costs
Wheel Throwing Party
Minimum group size of 6. $72 per person.
For a 10 person wheel throwing group, the cost would be $720.
Pottery Painting Party
Minimum group size of 7. $100 flat fee to reserve the painting tables, plus the cost of your items ($15-$60 per item).
For a 10 person pottery painting group, the cost would be $100 + the cost of items. At an average $30 item price, the cost of the session would be $400.
Combination Party
Minimum group size of at least 6 throwers. Pricing is the same as above.
For a 10 person group where 6 are throwing and 4 are painting, the price would be the $100 painting table fee + the cost of the 4 items (average $30 each), plus $72 per wheel thrower, for a total of $652.
Table fee: $100
Painted pieces: $120 (4*$30)
Wheel Throwers: $432 (6*$72)
When to Book
Wheel Throwing:
Monday-Thursday time slots are highly preferred.
Wheel throwing events on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday evenings (during or outside of open studio hours) are only available 8+ weeks in advance for groups of 12 or more throwers, paid fully in advance.
Pottery Painting:
Pottery painting events of 6 or more people can be scheduled outside of our open hours. Events with less than 6 people should use the table reservation system on our "Pottery Painting" page.
Combination Events:
Combination events are only available to book outside of our open studio hours.
Open Studio Hours:
Monday-Tuesday: Closed
Wednesday-Friday: 2:30-8:30 PM
Saturday-Sunday: 12 PM - 5 PM
