Where are you located?

130 Jackson Plaza, Ann Arbor, MI. We are on the Homes Campus, which offers food, drinks, and indoor/outdoor workspaces. Our studio is a warehouse space in the back parking lot of this campus. We are near the exit of the additional parking for the campus; look for our signs!

When you are enrolled in one of our wheel throwing courses, you can come in during our open studio times to practice with your clay. During open studio, an instructor may or may not be available to assist you. You can come in for additional practice times on:Wed-Fri 2:30-8:30 PM Sat/Sun 12-5 PM

Courses at Throw are generally for ages 16+.

What pottery courses does Throw Ann Arbor offer?

A 7-week Beginner Wheel Throwing course ($369) for those new to clay, and an 8-week Intermediate Wheel Throwing course ($399) for those with existing wheel experience. A Handbuilding course is coming soon.

How do multi-week courses differ from Try Wheel Throwing?

Courses meet weekly with an instructor over several weeks, so students build real skill, unlike the one-time Try Wheel Throwing class.

What is open studio for course students?

Students enrolled in a wheel throwing course can use open studio hours (Wed-Fri 2:30-8:30 PM, Sat-Sun 12-5 PM) to practice with their clay between classes. An instructor may or may not be present.

Beginner Courses

Which Course is Right for You?

Beginner Wheel Throwing

Best for people who have never used the pottery wheel, or those with little to no past experience. This course is also suitable for people who have taken a course in the past but feel less than confident in their wheel throwing skills.

Continuing Wheel Throwing

Best for people who have some current experience at the pottery wheel and are looking to expand their skillset. This is the perfect next step for those who have finished our Beginner course.

Handbuilding Course

Best for people who want to make their own creations out of clay with instructor guidance. Follow along with projects that you can make into your own. No experience is required, but it is welcome.
