6-Week Wheel Throwing Pottery Course in Ann Arbor, MI Learn how to throw pottery on the wheel, glaze your work, and build your own handmade ceramic collection from start to finish. This beginner pottery course is designed for adults who want a complete, hands-on introduction to wheel throwing. You’ll meet once per week for six weeks and learn every step of the ceramic process, from preparing and centering clay to trimming, glazing, and firing your finished pieces. No experience is required. You’ll leave with real skills, a personal collection of pottery, and a strong foundation to keep creating on your own! What You'll Learn Each weekly class is guided by one of our instructors and builds on the skills from the previous session. By the end of the course, you'll know how to: Center clay and form bowls, cups, and cylinders Trim and clean up your pieces with intention Attach handles, shape surfaces, and prepare work for glaze Glaze your finished bisqueware with professional studio glazes You’ll work with 25 lbs of reclaim clay, and you can keep everything you make. Students can create a full set of pieces they’re excited to use, gift, or display. Open Studio Access + Make-Up Instruction Outside of class, you’ll have access to open studio time during our weekly member hours. This gives you the chance to practice, explore, or catch up at your own pace. If you miss a class, we offer flexible make-up sessions with one-on-one guidance so you won’t fall behind. Pickup Party After your final class, our team will glaze fire your work and notify you when everything is ready. About two weeks later, you’ll be invited to an optional pickup party; a relaxed, potluck-style celebration where you can test out your finished pottery and meet others from the studio community.
