Kid & Adult Wheel Throwing

For All Ages

The Kid & Adult class is designed for ages 12 and under. The lesson is streamlined to be completed in 1.5 hours. Parents will simultaneously get to learn wheel throwing on a full-sized wheel and help their child practice on their miniature wheel.

Small Group Size

These classes are designed for 4 parents and 4 children at one time. Instructors will show both adults and children how to throw on the wheel. The process is very similar for full-sized and miniature wheels.

Learn a New Skill Together!

This one-time class is a great bonding experience for kids who enjoy art. After you attend the class, you each get to pick your favorite piece to be glazed and fired by the studio for pickup in approximately 3-4 weeks.

FAQs

Q: How many kids in total will attend the camp?

A: We are capping the number of attendees at 18 for this Summer!

Q: Are parents allowed to stay during the sessions?

A: We are on the Homes Campus, which offers food, drinks, and indoor/outdoor workspaces if you would like to stay close by. Parents can check in anytime, but we encourage the campers to interact mainly with one another!

Q: What activities and events are planned?
A: Campers will be able to attempt the pottery wheel, handbuild a sculpture, handbuild a coil pot, paint a self-portrait, do finger painting, and learn about ceramic studio equipment across 4 weeks!

Q: Will kids keep anything from the camp?

A: Kids will get their own apron and T-shirt while attending camp! In addition, campers will get to choose one of their handbuilt pieces to glaze at the studio and keep after firing. Campers can keep any painted works they create as well.

Q: What safety measures do you have in place?

A: Campers are not allowed to leave the studio space until they check out with their guardian. We will conduct ID checks for drop-offs and pick-ups. A safety waiver must be signed before the camper can participate in the camp which underlines the general risks involved in pottery activites. Checks will be conducted every 15 minutes for the children. Any unsafe areas are clearly marked with DANGER signs.
